2017 Reunion

Start making plans to join us at this year's reunion. It will be July 14 - July 16 at Camp Lone Star in La Grange, Texas. Come for the whole weekend or just a part. We'd love to see y'all!

2016 Reunion

Come join us for the 2016 von Rosenberg Family Reunion. Once again the reunion will be held at Camp Lone Star located on the south bank of the Colorado River opposite the city of La Grange. There are plenty of activities planned. There will be recreation, history, food, and fellowship. Mark your calendars for July 15th through July 17th and come join us. Meals and accommodations are provided at a reasonable cost. Please see the registration form for details. Here is a timeline for the weekend's events.

Some of the activities include:

  • Golf Tournament @ either the Lost Pines or Colovista resorts in Bastrop on Friday, July 15th. Tee-time is tentatively set for 1:00 pm, however this is subject to change. Contact Drew Cartwright or Bill von Rosenberg for details. Bill will be sending out a detailed information broadcast once details are finalized to all past participants.
  • Friday evening will be a time of food and fellowship. Bring your favorite noshing foods and games. There are usually games of 42 and gin rummy going, as well as some board games. This is fun for all ages.
  • On Saturday morning a group of us will go to the Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives to view the von Rosenberg Family collection on display in their research room upstairs. The FHMA is now open only on Saturdays from 10:00 am until 5:00pm and further information can be found at www.fayettecountyhistory.org/fhm_archives.htm. Come join us.
  • There is a tentative plan for a new book presentation for Saturday at Camp Lone Star at 2:00 pm to feature noted Texas Author, Skip Hollandsworth, and his new book; The Midnight Assassin. This true crime novel features in part our ancestor/relation, Judge William von Rosenberg, Jr. of Branch I, who was serving as the Justice of the Peace of Travis County in 1895 when a serial killer struck Austin, Texas. The killer was alternately known as the Servant Girl Annihilator, the Austin Axe Murderer and as the book’s title implies, the Midnight Assassin. Mr. Hollandsworth, who also is executive editor at Texas Monthly magazine, has not yet committed to the presentation; however, we are actively seeking his attendance. If he is unable to attend, we will have a time of family fellowship.
  • Following lunch on Saturday, an informal history show-and-tell will be held at Camp Lone Star where family members with interesting family artifacts will be available to show other family members their heirlooms and artifacts. We encourage any and all von Rosenberg cousins to search their closets and attics and cedar chests to look for old photographs, civil war mementos, or other types of items which tell the history of our family.
  • After lunch, a brief business meeting will be held wherein old business and new business will be discussed, and an interim Vice President will be elected for the remainder of the 2016-2017 term. Anyone who wishes to stand for election may do so, and in fact we encourage additional candidates to ensure all family members and all branches remain engaged.
  • Prizes will be awarded during the business meeting for the family member who traveled the farthest, for the youngest family member in attendance, for the oldest family member in attendance, the couple married the longest, and for the oldest member of the branch best represented.
  • Saturday night will feature a Brisket and Sausage Links feast catered by von Rosenberg family members with Camp Lone Star providing sides, condiments and beverages. We are also planning to have musical entertainment for anyone who wishes to kick up their heels.
  • Sunday morning we will again have a devotional service. In honor of this being the 75th reunion of the von Rosenberg Family of Texas, we will travel to the Old La Grange City Cemetery to worship at the graveside of our patriarch, Peter Carl Johann von Rosenberg.
